History of Charm Bracelets

The custom of wearing charm bracelets dates back thousands of years, and though the materials and designs on them have changed, the concept itself has never gone out of style.

This form of jewelry initially had a religous function, and dates back to the prehistoric era. According to Elizabeth Florence, president of the Jewelry Information Center, "The first charm bracelets were probably worn by the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians and Hittites from 500 to 400 B.C. Those charms were made of lapis lazuli, rock crystal and other gems and were inscribed with small designs, such as figures of gods, man and animals. They were immediately associated with special powers."

As time passed, charms lost their protective spiritual functions and became fashion jewelry. The 1890's saw a renaissance of charms, especially in Victorian England, where elaborate and intricate jewelry was in vogue. Queen Victoria helped popularize the trend by wearing a charm bracelet of small lockets holding family portraits.

WW II caused another revival of charm bracelets in America in the 1940's and 1950's, as soldiers stationed abroad picked up charms as souvenirs in the European cities they visited and brought them home for wives and girlfriends. The fashion trend continued well into peacetime.

Charms still remain a popular jewelry item, as personalized keepsakes in an increasingly mass-produced jewelry market. Popular themes include horoscope signs, birthstone charms, travel souvenirs, and family keepsakes. Many women start collecting charms when they are children, and the charm bracelet grows along with them, reflecting hobbies and personal experience. A charm bracelet can hold a small replica of a graduation cap, wedding bells, or lockets with children's photos.

Charms are also a popular gift because of their affordable price. An intricate silver charm can be obtained for less than ten dollars, though it is possible to spend hundreds of dollars on a charm made of 18K and set with gems.

Italian charms, a genre in and of themselves, do not dangle from a chain like traditional charms. Instead, they are soldered onto flat links which snap onto an extensible bracelet. They are embellished with letters, symbols, pictures or stones, or have enamel pictures painted on them. Charms can be snapped on and off these modular bracelets to create new configurations to match different moods and outfits. They are traditionally made of stainless steel or 18k gold. Italian charms are of the same standard size and the resulting bracelet can be customized to fit every wrist; a small size holds 17 or less links, a medium 18, and a large 19 or more.

There are different companies which produce Italian charms, but all brands can be interchanged on the same bracelet. The basic "starter" bracelet of blank links costs approximately five dollars, and the charms cost fifteen dollars and up. China also manufactures Italian charms, and while these are popular (and, as with most Chinese goods, very competitively priced), some consumers report occasional oddities such as reversed images and poor fit.

Fashionable Clothing That You Choose

Clothing encompasses a wide range of apparel. From big and tall men's clothing to women's clothing. How we dress ourselves and what we wear tells the people around us a lot about who we are. Clothing has always been subject to change based on the dictates of fashion and whims. Some things however, about clothing don't change. Quality. Quality clothing will always be in demand. Durability. Durable men's and women's clothing are always popular.

Clothing not only covers our bodies, it also allows us to enhance our appearance. A quality, sharp suit on a man makes him look more professional and successful. An attractive dress on a woman makes her look stylish and confident. There are so many different clothing options to choose from, that at times it can appear overwhelming. Don't let that bother you. With a little thought and reflection you can come up with a clothing style that truly reflects who you are.

A few suggestions to consider are these: Decide what clothing you feel comfortable in. Is it a business meeting? Is it a casual night out? Whatever you're going to be doing, the clothes you wear will only accentuate the real you and the right clothes for the occasion can go a long way to help you feel confident.

Take your time to select a few choice merchants that offer timeless, quality clothing at reasonable prices. Take your time, you're not in a hurry, and focus in on what type of clothing you want. In other words, who do you want to be and then find the clothes to dress up that person.

How to Care For Your Designer Handbag

Whether your designer handbag is a Louis Vuitton, a Gucci, or any other designer, it is important to take proper care of it. Proper care will give you many years of beauty and use in return.

Most leather designer bags are not treated. This allows the bags to age gracefully and with the character expected from a designer bag, making them distinct and unique. Keep your bag away from makeup, food, or any other oil based product which can stain. When you are not using your bag, store it in a protective cloth container.

The very first thing you should do is treat your handbag with a leather protector to prevent stains from setting in. No matter how careful you are, at some point your likely to leave a mark on it and the leather protection will not allow it to soak in so you'll be able to more easily remove it.

What to do if you get a stain. Here's some helpful tips worth trying.

Cleaning leather can be a bit difficult. Leather is rugged and lasts a long time but it does stain quite easily. Depending on the type of leather and the finish, will depend on the cleaning method used.

If a handbag is tanned, and pigmented you can try to wipe the stain with a soft damp clothe. If this doesn't work, try a leather cleaner specifically made for the type of leather you have. Follow the directions carefully. Once the spot has been removed it is a good idea to re-condition the leather to restore the natural luster. Always test a leather product in inconspicuous spot before applying to your entire handbag.

If the leather has become discolored there are leather products on the market that can help restore color. Try to match the product as close as possible to the natural color of your handbag.

If your not sure, we would recommend you take it to a professional leather cleaner who will have the expertise to remove the stain.

Colored Contact Lenses, the Hottest Trend in Cosmetics is Spreading Like Wildfire Across the Fashion

A cross between cosmetics and vision correction, everyone from movie stars, politicians, athletes and business leaders to soccer moms and teenage children can instantly become the center of attention at work, a party or on the court.

It wasn't long ago that contact lenses cost $100 to $200 a pair, and were worn mostly by the affluent or those needing a vision correction that contacts could do better than eye glasses. Today, just about anyone can wear contacts and there is a color or style for almost everyone.

One of the things that give contacts such a strong appeal is their ability to change the mood and look of the wearer. By changing your eye color from blue to brown you can not only change the mood from intense to romantic, but also enhance different features of your face, hair and make-up.

Colored contact lenses allow the user to change eye color with a trip to the bathroom.

There also are special effect lenses that are contacts with designs printed or painted on them.

The advances in technology, materials, demand and competition have drastically reduced the prices of contacts. Once costing over a hundred dollars a pair now they can be purchased for as little as $15-$25.

The low price and the convenience of being able to purchase contacts locally or online make them a popular alternative to eye glasses. Contacts often do a better job of correcting vision than eye glasses because they are fitted to the eye and aren't sliding up and down the nose where they need to be re-adjusted.

The improved vision, the convenience of not putting eye glasses on and taking them off, plus the often improved self-image make contacts an easy choice.<BR><BR> <B>Keep contact lens use safe</B><BR><BR> Contact lenses, colored contacts and special effect contacts can be purchased with a vision correction or without, but all lens purchases within the United States require a prescription from a doctor. Because the lens fits on the eye it is considered a medical device and is governed by those laws.

Your lens will need to be fitted to the size and shape of your eye. At the time of the examination your doctor should also go over proper care, cleaning and disinfecting of your contacts. Simply tell your doctor you would like a copy of your prescription so you can shop for your contacts.

Your colored lenses probably will make you the talk of the office or school. And with your new popularity there will probably be friends and relatives who want to try your contacts to see how they will look.

Contact lenses go directly on your eye and sharing contacts is an excellent way of spreading eye disease, which is spread by bacteria from one wearer to another. So don't share your contacts with others. Remember you only have one set of eyes and you don't want to do anything to jeopardize them.

Ankle Bracelets: Accessories to Pamper and Adorn Your Feet

Feet are among the most the most beautiful parts of a woman's body. This fact is often overshadowed by modern media, which highlights women's faces and torsos, and little else. Yet throughout history, the delicate shape of women's feet have been paid great respect and attention, as proven by classical literary works by D.H. Lawrence and Lord Byron, to name only a few. In "Double Indemnity," the hero Walter is so entranced by the ankle bracelet worn by a woman named Phyllis, that he mentions it several times in the course of the movie.

In ancient China, it was such a big deal that women had small, delicate "moon-shaped" feet (that is, with deep insteps) that an entire custom dedicated to foot-binding was developed. This was extremely painful for the women, but the standards for lovely feet back then helped greatly in setting standards of overall attractiveness; women with small feet were considered noble and aristocratic.

Nowadays we have done away with painful practices, knowing that women's feet are beautiful naturally. The sensuous instep and curve of the ankles call for accentuating jewelry. This is part of why ankle bracelets are increasingly in demand.

Ankle bracelets -- "anklets," for short -- are lightweight and fancy decorations for the feet. Many come with tiny charms, which usually include variants of a favorite symbol, like cats, hearts, stars, and bells -- the variety is endless. Bracelets worn on the feet are in fact very similar in make to bracelets worn on the wrists, which is why for many, bracelets and anklets are interchangeable.

For the most part, ankle bracelets are casual accessories: they are best worn on an ordinary day out having fun. Multicolored anklets woven from fibers or threads look great with casual sandals or flip-flops. However, ankle bracelets made of fine-spun gold and silver make a beautiful tandem with fashion shoes, and look great for formal events.

Man Earring: a macho look in jewelry fashion

These days, there is a call for more "metrosexuals," or men who are conscious about their looks and clothing, so much that it is actually important for them to be not only presentable, but fashionable as well in civilized society. The television program "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" has revolutionized makeovers for all of us, for it has shown that, yes, it is indeed possible for men to be pleasant to look at without being "girly" or "dandy." Masculine jewelry, such as man earrings, are a big part of this metrosexuality trend.

Men who can boldly wear necklaces, bracelets and earrings to set off their hair or their eyes are men who have achieved the next level of metrosexuality: accessorizing. In the end, a tasteful selection of jewelry helps to make the man. Rings and necklaces, bracelets and cufflinks, all add to the image of the powerful, self-possessed male.

And man earrings are definitely "in"! Next to necklaces, earrings are the most popular men's accessories. Quite a few big-name male stars, young idols especially, are making man earrings a fashion must. Think of Johnny Depp (who started off as a teen rebel heartthrob in the television show &quot;21 Jumpstreet&quot;) and David Gallagher (who plays Simon Camden in the TV drama &quot;7th Heaven&quot;).

Men's jewelry is not just for clean-cut urbanites -- in fact in the streets, earrings on men are considered symbols of toughness. Indeed, the man earring, in general, speaks boldly of the courage to have one's own sense of fashion, to set one's own trend. Mr. T has his own collection of earrings that make for his tough-guy look, and quite a few hiphop and R&B artists ? such as Jay-Z and Usher -- have all but trademarked their own jewelry ensembles.

Man earrings play up sexuality without sacrificing masculinity. Worn either on one earlobe or both, it makes a man look more snazzy and cool. Whether they be diamond, gold, silver, or platinum, earrings have become a necessary part of a man's jewelry arsenal.

Turn Back the Clock with Throw Back Jerseys from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and College Sports

Throw back jerseys are all the rage across the United States. They are big business, too. Go into the top throw back jerseys stores in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and the other cool urban centers in the United States, and you'll find tourists, business men, and rap stars alike dropping $20,000 on what is essentially just clothing.

But that's just the thing. These throw back jerseys are not just clothing. They are artifacts from the a long gone era, when all of our heroes were still in the game and good and bad was a black and white issue.

You didn't have to worry back then if Michael Jack Schmidt was shooting up at the gym. You didn't have to wonder if Wilt Chamberlain was going to pass his drug test. And you especially didn't have to wonder whether Jim Brown would just up and quit the running back position for personal reasons. Wait, strike that. These jerseys are gems from this pure and innocent past in sports. They are heart warming and comforting.

Allen Iverson, Shaq, and OutKast might also suggest that throw back jerseys look darn good on them, too. The whole thing is one big fashion statement in the sports and pop scene.

Why have throw back jerseys become so popular?

People don the classic green North Stars hockey jersey not to relive the glory days of the NHL, but because the jersey looks slick. They throw on the blue and maroon Philadelphia Phillies jersey from the World Series year of 1983 not to celebrate that awesome team, but because they just don't make jerseys like that now.

How can you get into this action? Either hit the streets of Philadelphia or some of the other hotbeds of the throw back jerseys scene. Or scour the online sites for auctions and sales of your favorite teams, players, and years.

Be forewarned: there are plenty of cheap knockoffs out there on the market, and believe me, you definitely get what you pay for. Genuine, top-quality authentic jerseys aren't cheap.

That's what happens when rappers and sports stars buy them up and drive up demand. But when you put on one of your authentic, throw back jerseys to wear at your favorite sporting event or on a date, you'll feel like ten times what you spent.

My Shopping List: Shoes, Dress, and a Hairdresser

Change is a funny thing. When seasons change, so do people and their way of thinking. For some of us it can be scary and for others a welcomed challenge. A few of us will throw out clothes we have not worn in years. Others will throw away old shoes, handbags, jewelry, hats and belts only to refill their closets with a shopping trip. Shopping is the ultimate change for a shopaholic. However, there are some of us who will shop for the ultimate change? a haircut. Whether it is a two-inch cut or a 10-inch cut, you better be sure to shop for a person who knows exactly what he/she is doing. I never thought that one must also shop for a hairstylist in the same way that we shop for the perfect dress or pair of shoes. After I saw my neighbor's hair, I have changed my thought process.

My neighbor went to her hairdresser to get all of her hair cut off.. Onlookers gasped at the thought of cutting it all off. You could hear sighs of pain from other clients as the clipped hair fell to the floor. The hairstylist cut, snipped and dismissed her from the chair. AAHHHH! I thought to myself. Is she going to shape it up or comb it or something? Immediately I started to think of the scene from the movie, Waiting to Exhale when Angela Bassetts' character was depressed and upset about the breakup of her marriage. She sat in front of the mirror and just started cutting away at her hair. The way she cut it, you would not believe she had a mirror. I saw my neighbor walking towards me and I could not believe she did it. She looked like a depressed, tired old maid. (Translation? Someone who does not have anyone to love and/or is not happy with her life.) Her earrings were small, simple and plain. The dark circles under her eyes complimented by her uneven skin tone made her look like she never owned a mirror. A hairstylist is supposed to make you feel like a new woman. The same way a new dress or pair of shoes makes you feel. She looked horrible. Something in my mind kept saying, &quot;Don't you say anything to hurt her feelings; be quiet.&quot; Now you know I could not be quiet, however, I did choose my words wisely. I began, &quot;Wow, you cut off all your hair! You have a good shaped head for such a style. Now you need to go to the barber and let him give your style some shape. I know a place where you can get some fabulous earrings to accent your style too.&quot; She said, &quot;I have earrings, but the people on my job don't get all dressed up.&quot; I said, &quot;Forget the people on your job, what about going to and coming back from work. You never know who you will meet with your new look.&quot; Then I said, &quot; It was meant for you to see me today so that I can give you a complimentary makeover consultation.&quot; She laughed and we said goodbye.

As she walked away, I had to laugh to myself because I had also experienced a bad hairstylist. I was an unsuspecting consumer who drifted into the Bunches of Hair beauty salon in midtown. (I changed the salon name to protect the innocent.) This place will definitely have you drifting in by the fabulous hair photos covering the wide framed window. The stylists are dressed to impress in pink and purple. Everyone's hair was whipped to perfection. &quot;Come on in, sit in the chair and would you like a cup of tea?&quot; said the stylist in the pink and purple smock. &quot;Oooh girl, I am impressed.&quot; I thought to myself as I told the stylist that I would like finger waves. She said, &quot;Yes ma'am.&quot; I walked over to the sink where not only did I get my hair washed, but my blouse and legs got a soaking too. Water was everywhere. She scrubbed my scalp so hard that I got a headache. I guess she thought she was giving me a good head massage. She almost broke my neck. Back in the chair, she proceeded to dump almost an entire jar of gel on my head that resembled orange bees wax. Carefully, she sculptured each row to resemble a sea of beautiful water waves. As she finished, I glanced in the mirror only to spot clumps of orange goop. Three hours later? (That's another story) my masterpiece was finished. She slowly unwrapped the net from my head. The moment of truth has arrived. Ahahhh. Ahahhhhh Ahhhahh. I couldn't stop screaming. I spent all day at the salon and all I have to show for it is a matted mess. Now the orange goop had got deep in color and hardened into a wax sculpture around my hair. &quot;I am not going outside like this!&quot; I said. LOOK AT MY HAIR! LOOK AT IT! By the way, I do not like unisex salons. There were some nice looking men getting a haircut and they witnessed the entire episode. How embarrassing. The stylist apologized a thousand times and marched me back over to the sink where she used a hammer to chisel the orange sculpture from my hair. Well, it was not a hammer but that's how I felt. I ended walking out of there with a pigtail. You heard me, a pigtail. It is a style here you get just enough hair for the rubber band to catch hold. I will never go in any salon without getting at least two referrals and a hair police report.

The next time you are shopping in the mall and pass the local hair salon, just take a peak inside to see what is going on. Ask the clients for a referral and keep it in your shopping file just in case you should ever need it.

Teen Jewelry Fashion Exposed

Teenagers are a fickle bunch. At that stage of physical and psychological growth, they are constantly experimenting with things to improve their image and their look. Teen jewelry fashion plays a major part in the development of their identity and efforts to either blend in with the crowd or establish their own unique persona. Any parental endorsement of fashion accessories is akin to the kiss of death, and adolescents look to other influences when it comes to teen jewelry fashion.

The celebrities that teenagers see in music videos, television programs or movie screens are largely responsible for dictating trends in teen jewelry fashion. The oversized, ostentatious accoutrements favored by rap musicians have spawned the hip-hop jewelry trend, and teenagers have been patronizing lower-priced but accurate replicas of celebrity bling bling. Instead of the diamonds and other precious gems used in celebrity jewelry, cheaper zirconia and base metals are used for duplicates. Body jewelry (both the pierced and non-pierced types) that is unusually designed and made with inexpensive materials has also seen an increase in teenage patrons.

Beaded jewelry and woven friendship bracelets and rings are some of the other hot trends in teen jewelry fashion. Many teenagers make these dress accessories themselves and give them to friends as gifts. These are personalized with beads that have the letters of the recipient's name on them are incorporated into the woven fibers. Many teenagers also wear certain types of jewelry to identify them as part of a clique or group. These may take the form of uniquely designed pendants, rings or charms that have spiritual or mystical overtones.

Feminine teen jewelry fashion styles are also influenced largely by young celebrities today. Items worn by teen stars, such as Hilary Duff's slave bracelets, are copied by her non-celebrity counterparts. However, whimsical designs are still hugely popular among this set of young consumers. Gold- or silver-plated jewelry and jewelry that has gemstones has not lost its following among teenagers.

Some masculine teen jewelry fashion trends, on the other hand, tend to lean more toward beadwork, silverwork, leatherwork, and unusual stones. Teenage guys seem to think that sporty-looking accessories, such as so-called surfer-dude necklaces and arm bands made from bone, wood, or shell beads on a rubber or leather cord are cool. Stainless steel jewelry is popular with them, too.

Jewelry has been used by all people throughout history as marks of beauty or to denote social status. Adolescents are not immune to these patterns; in fact they are probably even more susceptible to them because of their need to simultaneously conform and stand out. Teenage jewelry fashion is part of their social arsenal and a tool in the development process.

How to Look Slimmer

No matter what their size, most women want to look slimmer. By wearing clothes that are appropriate for your body shape you can look as much as 10 pounds slimmer. For those who are tired of dieting or just can't seem to lose those last few pounds choosing clothes that are right for you and suit your body type will make you look slimmer ? instantly. This is how it works; we are all built with our weight distributed in different places, which makes us unique. Manufacturers are not concerned about how clothes look on the average female but how it looks on models. They create fashion looks for the ideal body type. If you do not have the ideal shape and wear whatever is in style or looks great on someone else you may be hiding your assets and dressing to make yourself look bigger, out-of-proportion, or unattractive. The last thing we want to do is create a look that makes us appear larger or out-of?proportion; however, that's what we do when we are not aware of the impact of line, design, proportion and color. Line and design is much more that wearing horizontal stripes, it is how the lines in the garment are formed, the shape and proportion of garments and how they are used to create the best look and how the lines of the body interact with the lines in clothes. Also, with color, it is not simply what color looks best on you (which is very important) but how color works with the lines of a garment to determine the final look. Here are some general guidelines that will create a slimming look but is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dressing to your full potential and looking slimmer.

Tips to Look Slimmer:

1. Don't wear frills or extra material that adds bulk. Don't wear bulky sweaters, or sweatshirts.

2. Avoid shiny fabrics such as velour and satin.

3. To make your legs appear smaller wear dark hose. Don't wear patterned tights.

4. Don't wear oversized, shapeless clothing to hide bulges? they will make you appear larger instead.

5. Wear undergarments that have good support.

6. Dress in monochromatic colors without patterns. Darker colors will make you appear smaller ? navy, dark green, gray or black.

7. Avoid horizontal stripes. Thin vertical lines will give a slimming look.

Beaded Earrings Cultivate an Exotic and Sultry Look

When we think beads, we normally think of bracelets, anklets, hair ornaments and necklaces. What about beaded earrings? Well, earrings are mostly made of metal, enamel and precious stones, some of us think. Earrings are fancy and expensive!

Fortunately, earrings don't have to be fancy, or expensive, or made of just one extravagant material -- or a combination thereof. A person can be elegant without spending a lot of money, and a person can be elegant without looking so metallic!

American Indians used to create very elaborate beaded jewelry for different purposes. Among them were dream catchers -- ritual items placed on cradles and other sleeping areas in order to drive away bad dreams -- and beaded earrings for the women. A common stone involved in the making of bead jewelry is turquoise, which is said to lend strength of conviction and character to the wearer.

Some beads are made of semi-precious stones, and as such make beaded earrings that are comparable to earrings made from other kinds of exotic materials -- like hemp. Beads come in virtually every hue of the color spectrum, so it is no problem to find or make beaded earrings to catch one's fancy.

To achieve the natural, native look, go for beaded earrings. They are certainly unique and attention-catching. Choose from a variety of multicolored or monochromatic designs, mix and match according to your clothing, and existing jewelry. If you already have bead necklaces or bracelets -- or even beaded shirts! -- why not wear beaded earrings to match?

10 Online Shoe Shopping Tips

Tip #1 - Know Your Feet.

The best way to buy shoes that will fit your feet properly is to take their shape into consideration. Do you feet spill out of the sides of most shoe styles? Then try wide-width shoes.

Do you have a problem with gapping on the sides of your shoes? Perhaps a narrow-width shoes will help.

Are your toes short and stubby? Then pointy shoes might not be right for you. Considering the shape of your feet will help you buy great fitting shoes almost every time.

Tip #2 - Take a Hint From the Shoes You Already Own.

Take your favorite pair of shoes and study them. Ask yourself why they fit your foot so well. Is it because the toe is square instead of pointy? Is the material soft and has molded to the shape of your foot?

Once you know why your best fitting pair of shoes fit so well, find shoes that have a similar design or are made from similar materials, and you shouldn't have too many problems ordering great fitting shoes online.

Tip #3 - Find a Designer Whose Shoes Work For Your.

Most shoe manufacturers and designers tend to cut their shoes consistently. Compile a list of shoe manufactures that make shoes that fit your feet well, and search their online stock for that next great pair of pumps.

Etienne Aigner is one of the shoe manufacturers on my "list", and whenever I search online for a new pair of shoes, I see what they offer first. Nine times out of ten, their shoes fit my feet like a glove (or perhaps I should say they fit like a sock).

Tip #4 - Are Cheap Shoes Really a Bargain?

Everyone loves a bargain, but are you really saving money by buying those $39.95 pleather pumps that hurt your feet and looked trashed after only wearing them a few times. Instead of buying cheap shoes for little money, its better to buy quality shoes on sale. With proper care, quality shoes will feel and look good for years.

Tip #5 - Try On In a Store then Buy Online.

I love to scout out a great pair of shoes at the local mall and them buy them online for less. No tax, and free shipping will make almost any pair of shoes cheaper if you buy it online.

Tip #6 - Shop at Reputable Online Shoe Stores.

Make sure to buy from reputable online shoe merchants that have clearly marked return policies and secure web sites.

Tip #7 - Read Online Shoe Reviews.

Many web sites feature product reviews written by customers. Shoe Reviews will give you an idea of the fit and quality of the shoes reviewed.

Tip #8 - Keep Hosiery & Socks In Mind.

When you're buying a new pair of shoes, keep the kind of hosiery or socks you intend to wear with your new shoes in mind. For example, if you are buying a pair of boots to wear in bad weather, you might want to wear a warm, thick pair of socks with them. So buy the boots a size larger to accommodate the socks.

Tip #9 - Can You Walk in Those Heels?

If you've never worn a pair of 4 inch stiletto heeled pumps before, its best to try a pair on at a brick and mortar store before you buy them on line.

Tip #10 - Don't Spend More Then You Can Afford.

Just because those $325 dollar Bruno Magli Nazli Pumps are just a click and a credit card away, don't spend more than you can afford. Believe me, I know how addictive online shoe shopping can be!

Follow these ten easy online shoe shopping tips, and you'll be shoe shopping online like a pro. Best of all, you'll rarely, if ever, have to return a pair of shoes you bought online again.

Menswear ? Putting Together A Business Wardrobe

We're going to discuss some specific aspects of Men's business dressing, which has different rules than women's. Ladies, if you have a husband, son, brother, good friend or other relative that could use this information, please feel free to pass it along. Enjoy this segment, and come back for the others!

Whether you are a new college graduate, just joining the working world, changing jobs due to a merger, acquisition or &quot;dot-bomb&quot; or just feel the need to update your professional look, putting together a business wardrobe can be a scary prospect.

In the next installments of this article, we'll discuss the components of a great classic wardrobe that will have you well dressed for years, and will prove to be wise investments.

Let's start with the potentially most expensive, yet most important part of your business wardrobe ? your suits. Rather than buy the latest cutting-edge, designer look of the moment that will be dated and obsolete next year, select 3 ? 4 classically tailored suits in year-round fabrics and conservative colors.

If you've seen my articles about Color and it's effect on you, you'll know that men also fall into the color &quot;Seasons&quot;, and there are suggestions for colors in those articles. I'll also include some hints and tips in this article regarding colors for men's suits.

A popular choice of fabric in men's suits is 120's merino wool in a bengaline weave, which tends to resist wrinkling and provides a natural stretch for increased comfort. What's 120's merino wool? Well, Merino Wool is a specific designation for the wool grown and sheared from Merino sheep. It's very silky and soft, and the fiber diameter further distinguishes the various grades of Merino Wool.

There are three major classifications: Super 100 (wool fibers slightly thicker than 18 microns), Super 100s (wool fibers less than 18 microns thick), and Super 120's (wool fibers sheared only from the neck and shoulders of the sheep, under 16 microns thick).

The higher the grade number of the wool, the finer and more luxurious the fabric will be that is created from it and correspondingly, the higher the price for the garment! A suit made of a Super 120's wool will cost more, however, that same suit will last years instead of months. It is well worth the investment in yourself and your professional appearance.

Popular choices for men's suit colors include navy and charcoal grey, in a plain or pinstripe pattern, and make for a polished look. This is a terrific suggestion for men whose coloring is cool or blue-based. Winters and Summers are included in this color range. Additional popular colors for cooler-toned men are midnight navy, black, and gray navy.

Men who are warmer in their coloring could choose a bright navy, warm taupe or camel as a basic suit color, remembering that dark navy or black will wash out the coloring on these men and may make them look pale or unhealthy. Not exactly the impression we want to give, now is it?

Classic looks are ensured with a two or three button jacket, and current trends are favoring the 3-button style. More trendy looks have been seen with over 4 buttons on a single-breasted jacket, but these looks are best kept for evening activities and not for a business look.

Double-breasted suits can be problematic if your physique is not suited for them, and the difficulty of sitting in an always-buttoned jacket can cause extra wear and tear on your investment.

Business pants with a double-reverse pleat are a classic that will endure. You should be sure to have them tailored to fit your physique, as pulled-out pleats from an abundant abdomen or rear are sure to make you look even bigger, not business-like. An adept tailor is invaluable to a businessman, and the recommendations of friends and associates will help you find a good one.

Many suit retailers offer tailoring with a purchase, which can be a good way to start. Always test a new or unfamiliar tailor with one suit, so that if he / she doesn't work to your liking; they haven't affected your entire wardrobe!

Once you have your 3 or 4 basic suits, you can slowly add other suits to round out your business and entertaining wardrobe. Remember to keep your suit colors classic, and use what you know about your personal coloring (cool or warm) to choose shades and variations that will suit you best.

The best rule of thumb for Menswear: wear what is comfortable for you, remembering that classic tailoring and the right colors for you will best stand the test of time.

Ten of the Most Famous Diamonds and Who Owns Them

There are more than three hundred fifty named diamonds famous for their histories.

The Cullinan, is the largest cut diamond in the world. It was found in South Africa and was named for the owner of the mining company. The Cullinan diamond was 3106 carats, and was cut into 105 stunning diamonds. The largest was named the "Star of Africa" and is 530 carats by itself. In 1907 this diamond was given to King Edward VII of England, and set into the Royal Scepter. It is kept, along with the other Crown Jewels, safely in the Tower of London.

The Cullinan II is 317.40 carats. The color is white and is the cushion-shaped diamond in the center-front of the Imperial State Crown of Great Britain. It is also in the Tower of London with the British Crown Jewels.

The Dary-i-Nur is 186 carats, is pink and is in the Iranian Treasury. It is the largest uncut diamond in the world. Its name means "Sea of Light".

The Dresden Green is 41 carats; it is green, and a very rare type ila diamond of extraordinary quality. It gets its name from the city of Saxony where it had been on display for 200 years. The Dresden Green is now on display at the Albertinium Museum in Dresden.

The Hope Diamond is 45.52 carats, is blue, and is in the Smithsonian Institute. According to legend, a curse was placed on the large, blue diamond after it was stolen from an idol in India. Whether you believe in curses or not, the diamond has had a fascinating past ? it was owned by King Louis XIV, stolen during the French Revolution, sold to pay gambling debts, owned and worn almost daily by an American heiress, sold and worn to raise money for charity, and finally donated to the Smithsonian Museum.

The Hortensia is 20 carats, is peach colored and is in the Louvre. It is one of the crown Jewels of France, and was owned by Louis XIV. It was named after Hortense de Beauharnais, Queen of Holland, who was the daughter of the Empress Josephine, the stepdaughter of Napoleon Bonaparte and the mother of Napoleon III.

The Kohinoor is 108.93 carats, white and is located in the Tower of London. As with many of the most famous diamonds, there is a curse of death and destruction attached to it. Its name means "Mountain of Light" and legend has it that it actually comes from another diamond also rife with legend, called the "Great Mogul" which was said to have weighed 244 carats and mysteriously disappeared in 1665. The Kohinoor was owned by the first sultan of Mogul, and passed down through generations, until it was given to Queen Victoria. It was recut and now rests in the crown of Queen Elizabeth.

The Orloff is 189.62 carats. It is thought to have weighed about 300 carats when it was discovered. For a while, it was confused with the Great Mogul diamond. One of the legends of the Orloff is that it was set in the eye of a god statue in the temple of Sri Rangen, and stolen by a French soldier dressed up like a Hindu. He is said to have escaped by swimming down a raging river during a storm. It was eventually sold to Prince Gregory Orloff. In an attempt to win back her heart, he gave it to Catherine the Great, who collected lovers and precious gems with equal passion. She had the diamond mounted on top of the double eagle in the Imperial scepter. It is in the Russian Diamond Fund, Moscow.

The Spoonmaker Diamond has many legends associated with it. (It supposedly got its name when the owner--who is said to have found it sitting on top of a pile of garbage --bartered it to a spoonmaker for three wooden spoons.) More likely is that it was purchased by a Frenchman named Pikot, who bought it from the Maharajah of Madras in India. He took it to France, but was robbed. The diamond ended up at an auction, and was bid on by the notorious Casanova. It was finally bought by Napoleon's mother, Letizia Ramolino, who later sold her jewelry to help her son escape from Elba. It was bought again by an officer of Tepedelenli, and put into the treasury. When Tepedelenli was killed during a revolt, the entire treasury went to the Palace of Turkey, and the Spoonmaker's Diamond, now called the "Kasicki" is there.

The Taylor-Burton Diamond is a 69 carat pear-shaped white diamond that was originally called the "Cartier Diamond" after the jeweler paid $1,050,000 for it at an auction. Richard Burton purchased it the day after the auction for Elizabeth Taylor. She later renamed it the Taylor-Burton diamond. Ms. Taylor wore the diamond publicly at a party for Princess Grace's 40th birthday party in Monaco. She sold the diamond in 1978 and used the funds to build a hospital in Botswana. The diamond was later purchased by Robert Mouawad.

Fashion After 40

With so many designers and trends targeting the svelte body of the twenty-something, is it possible to look fashionable as the years pass and your body begins to tell the tale?

Absolutely!

In fact, with a little ingenuity and sleigh-of-hand, it's easy to be fashionable and stylish regardless of how many candles are on your birthday cake.

Now let's be frank: unless you work out religiously, you probably don't have the same body at 40, 50, or 60 that you did at 25. Time, gravity, and pregnancy all take their toll on the female body, as does menopause. And when you mix a mature body with fashions obviously made for a younger person, it can lead to self-doubt, frustration, and confusion.

But it doesn't have to be that way. Getting older also means getting wiser, and like a fine bottle of wine, you're improving with age. So you don't have the same body as those twenty-somethings you see in magazines or on TV. So what? Would you REALLY trade everything you've learned since your twenties for the body you had back then? Probably no sooner than you'd like to re-live puberty, thank you very much.

So how can you be fashionable without wearing all those body-conscious clothes so en vogue these days? By remembering the "3 C's" when you dress: clean, classic, and coverage.

CLEAN

Clean lines create a clean silhouette which makes the body appear more youthful by skimming the trouble spots instead of calling attention to them. Complicated cuts, seams, and details usually call for a killer body to pull off, so if you haven't got it, steer clear of those styles.

CLASSIC

Classic styles are called classic because they remain in style year after year. Why? Because they look good on so many bodies! Sheathes, A-line skirts, flat front pants - all tend to flatter a variety of shapes. What's more, because they remain in style year after year, classics are easier on the budget than trends.

COVERAGE

Covering appropriately is the key to aging gracefully. If your upper arms, thighs, and d?colletage have all seen better days, it's time to cover them up a bit instead of sharing the wear-and-tear with the world. Now I'm not talking about draping yourself in a tent for the rest of your life. Far from it. I'm talking about wearing short sleeves instead of going sleeveless, Capris instead of shorts, and modest necklines instead of plunging necklines.

Now I know that covering up the parts that used to turn heads and draw envy can be tough to take for some women. Which is precisely why beautiful jewelry and fine fabrics are the revenge tools of choice for many well-dressed mature women.

So your bustline isn't as perky as your twenty-something daughter or granddaughter. So what? Add a beautiful necklace and draw envious glances from women of all ages. Don't have the same backside you did as a teen? Encase it in a fine fabric and see how many men go out of the way to hold the door open for you. People will look where you focus their attention, so use that knowledge to redirect their interest to the parts you want them to see.

Or, as actress Cybil Shepard once said, "I like to flaunt what I have left."

Don't flip through fashion magazines and bemoan the fact that you don't look like the models. Instead, look at the various fashion elements to determine what will and won't work for you. Are printed scarves all the rage this year? Grab a few and be trendy. Are mini skirts the style of choice? Pass and bank your money.

See how easy this is?

"A woman has the age she deserves," Coco Chanel once said. You don't have to go under cover and dress "like a little old lady" just because that's what your mother or grandmother did. You're your own person.

If you remember to dress in clean lines and classic styles and cover appropriately, you can still be fashionable - AND draw long, lingering glances from handsome men -- whatever your age. And if THAT doesn't make you feel like a blushing girl again, then honey, nothing I can say will!

Shopping Tips and Tricks to Finding the Perfect Pair of Shoes

This article will provide you with some useful shopping tips and tricks to finding a perfect pair of shoes.

Following a recent advertising campaign I asked a number of women what information they would find most useful about womens shoes.

After collating the feedback received the majority asked for:-

<ul> <li>How to find the right size and width</li> <li>How to find discount or inexpensive designer shoes</li> <li>Assurance of return policy/shipping service etc</li> <li>How to choose fashionable shoes that are comfortable</li> <li>Reasonable priced shoes without searching all day to compare prices</li> <li>Quality - how to recognise poor quality shoes</li>

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE AND WIDTH

Know your shoe size and always choose a pair in your true size. The size you usually wear.

Most online shoe stores offer half sizes.

Unless the store is in Great Britain or Australia, most online shoe stores list their shoes in US sizes.

Check your country shoe size. For instance I live in England and my size is UK 7. In US this would be a size 9.5 and European size 40.

Not all online shoe stores offer narrow or wide width shoes.

If you require a narrow or wide width shoe try to choose stores that provide these.

It would be disappointing to go shoe shopping and find a pair of shoes you love only to discover the store only offers standard widths.

HOW TO FIND DISCOUNT OR INEXPENSIVE DESIGNER SHOES

The beauty of online shoe shopping is that the majority of the top stores offer up to and more than 100 designer branded shoes.

It is unrealistic to expect to get yourself a pair of Gucci shoes and only pay $30 for them.

However, there are shoe stores that offer such designer names at far lower prices than you would expect to pay at a boutique or mall store.

There are sites that have unique partnerships with designer houses and only offer end of season or discounted items.

Be very wary of doing random searches for designer shoes online.

The increase in fake or replica items is on the increase.

You might end up paying a little more than some of these sites offer. However, shopping with a reputable store will ensure you get what you are paying for and not some fake or replica item that will only be very poor quality.

Sadly sites offering fake goods are only after your money and not to give you any customer satisfaction in terms of service or quality product.

ASSURANCE OF RETURNS / SHIPPING POLICY

There a few top stores that offer free shipping [usually within the US or their own country] and free returns.

Stores usually only charge for worldwide delivery.

Always check the return policy before actually paying for your shoes.

Reputable online stores offer excellent customer service and make great effort to ensure their customers are happy.

They give you fast delivery and a free or inexpensive return service.

HOW TO CHOOSE FASHIONABLE SHOES THAT ARE COMFORTABLE

Almost all top internet shoe stores offer designer and branded shoes which means they are well made and have comfort elements taken into account.

There will always be reports out there that high heels will ruin your feet.

A poor quality pair of any shoe including high heels certainly will but you can be fashionable without sacrificing the comfort and health of your feet.

Current fashion spreads across an enormous selection of styles which means you don't have to have towering high heels to be fashionable.

Wedge heels are very fashionable at the moment.

Due to the fact that you have a wedge heel rather than a spike or narrow high heel they are very easy to walk in.

You won't feel like you have the height they actually are.

Wedge heels give you all the benefits of high heels such as lengthening and slimming the look of your legs and lifting the posture of your bottom.

They also come in closed toes, sandals and lots of different colours and textures with ankle ties or straps.

High heels will always be fashionable and wedge heels are a great way to get the heel without the wobble if you struggle to walk in heels.

Sabrina or kitten heels are quite in vogue.

The heel is only up to a couple of inches in height. You do still get the heel benefits but are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.

Flat sandals or flip flops will always be comfortable if they are well made.

If you don't fancy being completely flat you can get wedge flip flops or small heeled sandals.

A shopping tip to remember with sandals is to choose something that flatters your feet.

If you have long toes or feet, choose a flip flop that has some detail at the centre of the thong. This draws the eye away from your toes and creates width rather than length.

Sandals that have a strap or band across the foot to reveal your toes will draw attention to your toes. Trying sandals that have a thong style will reveal more of your foot.

Shopping tips show that an ankle tied sandal which will draw attention to your legs as well as your feet.

Loafers or slip on flat shoes are always comfortable.

Shoe shopping trends show that indian style satin slippers are extremely fashionable at the moment you can choose a few pairs in a variety of styles and maintain the flat heel.

A good shopping tip is to choose one with a genuine leather hard sole. The quality is better and they won't fall to pieces after short while either.

Mules and pumps are becoming more popular and designers are creating collections of colours and styles in these ranges.

REASONABLE PRICES WITHOUT SEARCHING ALL DAY TO COMPARE PRICES

Top online shoe stores are extremely competitive.

Behind the scenes each store will compete for certain key words that their visitors search for.

For instance if you are looking for a flip flop and go to your search engine and type in 'womens flip flops' you will see pages of listings to choose from.

Each company's listing has competed against the next to get higher up on the search engine page.

Their listings then entice you to click on their listing.

Just because you click on the top listing doesn't mean you are getting the best store for womens flip flops.

It just means that particular listing has competed better for that particular word and got to the top.

Unless you have purchased shoes online and know of a few reputable stores, its best to check out a guide or read up on what to look for.

Prices vary enormously online. The top online stores remain at the top because they offer their customers low prices and quality products.

These stores will regularly offer sales and maintain low prices.

Again, don't expect to buy a pair of Gucci shoes for $30. You can expect to get shoes far cheaper than in the stores at the mall and a greater choice of quality designers and shoes in general.

A good shopping tip is to shop around the top online shoe stores. All have regular sales and heavily discounted lines.

HOW TO RECOGNISE POOR QUALITY

Due to the fact that online shoe stores only offer branded items, you can be assured of the quality.

A good shopping tip is to look at the shoe images on the sites you are shopping at. They should be clear and a description and larger photo available for you to view.

Don't waste your shopping time buying shoes from sites that offer little or no choice in terms of both styles and sizes.

The store doesn't have to be the largest out there but any store should offer you a good selection to choose from.

The quality of the site itself is also a good indication on what you can expect in terms of service and value for your money.

If you find it impossible to locate the policy, terms of use or contact us page try and avoid. Its important to have clear policies.

A shopping tip to remember is the more customer service benefits you see the better your overall shopping experience will be with them.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Shopping tips are important if you want to do this in a breeze. Try to decide what you want before starting out and remember some of the things outlined above.

Payment is an extremely important factor and you should never give your credit card or personal details if you are not on a secure site or subscribing to something.

An accurate way and most important of the shopping tips is to check that the payment page is secure is to look at your browser. It takes a second.

The browser is the white box you see at the top of the web page beginning http://www.thenameofthepage.com

When you have selected your item[s] and click to checkout the browser screen should change to https://www.thenameofthepage.com/paymentorcheckout.html

Or something along those lines.

What is important is the little letter s. This means you are on a secure page to provide your payment details.

If you note these shopping tips your online shoe shopping experience will be a good one.

Shoes You Need for Summer Holiday

Summer is always a good season for people doing various activities. They might go to the beach, working out in the park, playing tennis with friends, and other more activities which are fun and make them good.

For all good activities you going to do during that time, you need footwear to help you mobile. To make you feel good there are things you must consider when buying footwear. First, you have to see where your direction is. Are you going to the beach or tennis court or other place?

Okay, since you know your direction is to the beach, you have to prepare water sandal. You will look gorgeous with your swimsuit on when wearing water sandal. There are few colors of water sandal; you can just pick which match with your swimsuit.

Water sandal can also be worn during rafting and kayaking. Also great for the shower, for rainy days, and can be used to protect your feet when swimming, diving, or beach walking. This water sandal is soft plastic sandals with heel straps for boating. Good ones can be reasonably comfortable and will last for quite a while.

Don't ruin it by wearing socks or nylons with sandals. Most sandals are designed to be worn barefoot, so they won't fit as well with hosiery. You just relax with your water sandals and don't try to add something because it will looks wired.

You got your beach footwear; now let's check your tennis shoes. Some refer to tennis shoes as a substitute term for sneakers or athletic shoes. Although tennis shoes are types of sneakers or types of athletic shoes, they are not the same. Tennis shoes were developed specifically for tennis, but have developed a more general appeal.

Tennis shoe brands most commonly include Puma, Adidas, Diadora, K-Swiss, New Balance, Nike, Prince, Reebok, Wilson etc. The type of tennis shoe that you choose should depend on the playing level you are in. The best players look for brands that extend support and stability.

If you are a hard core player, try to choose that has a molded plastic torsion bar that extends from the outsole to the lateral side of the upper. This prevents feet from rolling over when players stretch for a shot.

And if you want more recreational tennis shoes for lifestyle shoe, you need tennis shoes that offer flexibility and comfort, with a hint of style. The upper is a combination of mesh and suede, while the midsole and outsole are both polyurethane.

There are other more shoes for your summer holiday; it's your choice where your direction is. So, start by knowing where you go, enjoy!

Diamond Stud Earrings: Elegant Unisexuality

A diamond stud earring is made up of just one perfectly cut diamond, set in fine gold or silver. The simplicity of the design itself is its own selling point: anything fancier and you could easily fall into the trap of over-accessorizing. A single-stone earring is singled out for its sophisticated look.

A diamond is 58 times harder than the next hardest mineral on earth, corundum, the stuff from which rubies and sapphires are formed. Only diamonds can cut other diamonds. Ironically, diamonds are also brittle. If you hit one hard with a hammer, it will shatter. If it is placed in an oven and heated to about 763 degrees Celsius (1405 degrees Fahrenheit), it will simply vanish, releasing only a little carbon dioxide and NO visible traces whatsoever.

Contrary to popular perception, diamond stud earrings are not just for women! There are quite a few male celebrities who have popularized the use of ear accessories -- Johnny Depp being among the more famous of them. Respected artists like Usher and Kanye West have taken to sporting diamond earrings. Morgan Freeman wore a diamond earring to a roundtable discussion of his movie "The Sum of All Fears" in Washington DC in May 2002.

If stud earrings ever looked elegant on a woman, ironically enough they fantastically boost the macho appeal of the men who wear them. The purity of the stone, the value of the stud, all speak highly of the man's discerning taste, his eye for refinement. After all, uncouth bad boy-types aren't the only virile types in the world -- the snazzy, clean-cut James Bond figure has also been universally identified as irresistibly macho.

The virtue of the diamond stud earring lies in its unisex appeal. Both men and women have the privilege of accessorizing, and a single diamond stud is sometimes more than enough to set off their own personal styles. A simple diamond stud earring is timeless, and appropriately goes with the saying &quot;Fashion fades. Style is eternal.&quot;

Body Art

There are several forms of body art. Body art can be temporary, for example, body painting, or permanent, such as shaping, dyeing, and scarification, tattooing, and piercing. This article will provide some insight into body art.

Body art painting and shaping

Body painting transforms a person into a spirit or work of art; this can include another gender or a sacred place. Emphasizing on the visual appeal of the subject, the protective body paint is what gives it the appeal.

Body shaping is a technique in which to sculpt the body. Culturally defined ideals of beauty have caused people to bind the soft bones of children's skulls and feet, stretched necks with rings, and removed ribs to make their waist smaller. The most common method today of body sculpting is plastic surgery. Plastic surgery can sculpt and define almost any part of the body.

Skin Dyeing

Henna, is used as a temporary skin dye, in which different patterns and designs are applied to the body. The crushed leaves of the henna plant, when mixed with other natural ingredients, provides a thick, aromatic paste used for painting hands and feet. The olive green, dried out henna powder, mixed with such ingredients as black tea and coffee turns dark. When applied to the skin and left on overnight, it will harden and when pealed leaves a red tone to the skin.

Body art piercing, tattooing, and scarification

Piercing is ornamental as it allows the body to hold certain kinds of ornaments, which are inserted through the skin. The most common parts of the body that are pierced is the face although you will often find ear, nose and lip ornaments. Piercing is often part of a ceremony marking the coming of age. Ornaments might be limited to certain people or worn only on certain occasions

Tattoos are intended to be permanent and the patterns and techniques have varied over the years. The effects of tattooing depend on the country you live in. As an example, in the United States, tattooing is typically looked upon as being rebellious. Tattooing, in the last decade, has become a very popular form of body art throughout the world.

Scarification is much like tattooing, instead of placing a color into the skin with a tattoo needle, the color, or substance is placed into the wound or cut. Once the wound has healed, a permanent mark will remain on the skin

All of the forms of body art listed above can have adverse effects on individuals. There are health concerns with types of body art. If you are contemplating any of the above procedures, be sure to consider all the risks and facts before making any commitments.

Celebrities Like Their Pearls

Pearls never go out of style ? they are always a classy and traditional wardrobe accessory that will never disappoint you. But this year they are a &quot;front and center&quot; fashion statement! Just ask celebrities like Sandra Bullok, Jennifer Anistan, or Courtney Cox.

So with more people in the market for pearls now is a good time for some &quot;pearl talk.&quot;

The pearl has always been a rather prim and proper piece of jewelry ? classic and seeped in tradition. Well things they are a changing! The pearl is has had a very glamorous make over!

Yes, the classic strand still exists as it always will. But we warned we are seeing some vary daring looks from the pearl this season. Extra long lengths, tasseled multi strands, pearls with semi precious stone accents, pearls on gold or silver chains. The pearl has been transformed into a fun and fashionable accessory.

So if you're going to be in the market for pearls this year here is what the Celebrities say you should know.

? The glow or radiance of a pearl is the most important quality. Avoid pearls that are chalky or dull as they will be weak and may crack or peal.

? The surface of the pearl should be blemish free ? no bumps or cracks. Inspect under a bright light. Baroque pearls are the exception to this rule ? their charm is in their irregularities.

? Pearls are measured in millimeters. The larger the pearl the higher the cost. A 6 mm pearl is going to be much less than a 12 mm pearl

? The least expensive pearls are the freshwaters which mainly come from China. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Average size is around 7 mm

? The best way to care for your pearls is simply to wear them. The natural skin oils keep them moisturized. Do not put them on until you are done with your cosmetics. This includes hair, facial, and perfume. The residues from these products will ruin your pearls. Do not wear your pearls in the water ? chlorinated and salt water will damage them. Polish with a soft cloth and never use jewelry cleaning products on your pearls.

Quality pearls are not cheap but they will last a lifetime. Freshwater pearls are becoming very affordable. Not all of us will be in the market for &quot;Real Pearls&quot; and lucky us there are plenty of options. Swarovski makes a crystal pearl that is of the finest quality and quite difficult to tell from a true pearl for a fraction of the cost and they are available in a variety of colors.

There is an endless supply of imitation pearl or costume jewelry pearls on the market. These are offered in a wide variety of styles and colors. Great fun at affordable prices. Do you think Jennifer Garner wears the real thing for bumming around?

So you ask what's &quot; In Style&quot; this season? Well I'm glad you asked!

? Pearl rings get the green flag ? from low settings to monster large solitaire pearls, they are all the rave. A pearl ring can go from romantic and simple to sleek and stunning.

? The Bib Necklace makes a very dramatic statement. A broad necklace that tapers towards the back just like a baby's bib [thus the name]. They range from extremely wide to as narrow as a ?&quot;. This style works great with a simple black dress or strapless neckline.

? The multi-strand necklace is ever so preppy. They range from 12&quot; to 18&quot; and pearls are usually small to medium. The object of these necklaces is for every pearl to be in perfect placement. Very versatile and fashionable.

? The opera length necklace simply never disappears from the fashion scene. They measure 36&quot; or longer and they can be worn as a long single lean line, doubled up, tied in a knot, wherever the moment takes you. These long strands are terrific for dressing up a pair of jeans or semi casual look.

? The tassel necklace from the footloose and fancy free1920s has made a come back, and rightly so! Today tassels are often made from tiny seed pearls or irregular baroques. They range in length fro short at 16&quot; to navel length at 36&quot;. The tassel necklace swings and sways with your movement making it a must have for those night of dancing.

? This season for first time, we are seeing pearls mixed with colored gems such as amethyst, peridot, or topaz. They compliment each other nicely ? pearls with their soft and subtle shades mixed with semi precious gems with their vibrant and bold color. Picture it ? what a fashion statement!

? Pearls mixed with silver is also new this season. Long silver chain dangle earrings accented with pearls, or freshwater droplets set on silver.

? This season the pearl is all about the color. Pearls are available in many hues but this season the &quot;hot spot&quot; is &quot;lavender&quot; and the lavender family ranging from pale iris to plum.

If you already own a beautiful classic pearl necklace its very easy to transform it into something from this season. Try adding a group of charms or pendants, fastening a vintage brooch or clip[ on earring at the bottom. You could mix various lengths or sizes of pearls together or entwine a silver or gold chain. How about mixing your real pearls with your fake pearls? The options are as endless as your imagination.

Remember when you freshen your wardrobe for the spring, freshen your costume jewelry too and Make Your Fashion Statement!

Louis Vuitton Handbags

Louis Vuitton is a name recognized throughout the world. Known for their fabulous design and quality product. One must ask how did Louis Vuitton handbags come to be?

In the early 1800s Louis Vuitton trained as a luggage packer for a wealthy Parisian family. He was then appointed by Napoleon III to pack the dresses of the Empress Eugenie. Little did he know this would be the start of his rise to fame.

Because of his extensive luggage knowledge, Louis Vuitton began designing luggage for the wealthy who traveled. His first invention was to design luggage that was flat and therefore easy to stack in railway carriages.

It gained popularity at lightening speed. It didn't take long before his competition was copying his design. Soon after Louis Vuitton marked his luggage with distinctive stripes and checkerboard patterns.

In 1854 the Louis Vuitton business came to be, as luggage began to be replaced with Vuitton's ideas for handbags. Who better to design women's handbags than someone who was an expert in luggage.

Originally the Noe bags carried 5 bottles of champagne. To Louis Vuitton's surprise the Noe bag was extremely popular, and it wasn't long before wealthy woman began to carry this elegant bag.

The Damier Canvas design debuted in 1888. In 1896 the monogram design was launched in an effort to counteract the replicas his competitors were marketing. The monogram logo was made of an intersection of the initials LV, finished with a curved beige diamond and 4 point star intes.

Still today, Louis Vuitton is recognized for its high quality purse. At the factory level, if a purse does not meet the Vuitton standards it is destroyed.

Louis Vuitton has been in business for an amazing 3 centuries and continues to be fore front in the hand bag industry.

Thrifty And Fashionable

Growing up with three sisters, it was important for us to be well-groomed. We were always borrowing clothes from each other then returning them clean and pressed. It was a way of streching our wardrobes and to the outside world we had an endless supply. We were thrifty without realizing it and no one was the wiser.

The first thrift store was opened in London during the middle eighteen-hundreds.The Salvation Army went around collecting donated goods from the working classes and then selling them to the poor for a fraction of the cost. A few years later,a Salvation Army store was opened in the lower East side of Manhattan serving over three million impoverished people.

During the depression, it was shameful to be seen wearing thrift store cast-offs. Clothes were handed down to another family member. Shoes were patched, blouses or shirts were mended or seams torn apart and made over to fit a family recipient. During the nineteen-fifties, wealthy women donated their clothes to be re-sold. The profits from these upscale resale shops were shared with the donor or the shop profited from it. During the nineteen-seventies,thrift stores were popular with the hippies and the college students searching for vintage styles.

Now days, thrift store parking lots are filled with luxury cars as well as the more modest ones reflecting the escalating prices. The stores have become so profitable that the same people they once helped cannot afford to shop there. Thrift stores like Goodwill have some quality items and at shopgoodwill.com clothing items are auctioned in the same way as on ebay. Although, it is better to visit their stores for more of a variety of items and sizes.

Kate Magazine is an online shopping magazine and she gives sound advice for buying vintage clothes and sizing them correctly. Also, she has links to resale shops and a newsletter that can be sent to an online email inbox. She also gives shopping tips about what time of year the mall outlets sell their merchandise at the lowest prices. A city's online yellow pages is a good source for locating the names of local thrift stores and resale shops.

After finding a favorite thrift store, resale shop or mall outlet, it is wise to visit it frequently in order to keep up with the changing merchandise. It is a good idea to check the thrift store, resale shop or mall outlet's refund or exchange policy because a lot of them do not allow it.Shopping at these establishments is a unique way to add to an existing wardrobe without going over a limited clothing budget.

Through the years, the author has shopped at these kinds of establishments and found some unique fashion items at bargain prices.

Fashion with a Conscience

While wristbands have become a fashionable way to show our geopolitics we often forget that we can make an even bigger impact on poverty and the environment through the clothes we choose. Wearing eco fashion is one way we all can make a real difference. Organic cotton is one of the best examples of how each one of us can influence third world economies by encouraging fairer trade while helping preserve the environment.

A few weeks ago G8 leaders failed to set a date to end their agricultural export subsidies. While Western consumers enjoy low price clothing, they often forget that it hardly reflects the true cost of fashion. Conventional cotton is highly subsidised in countries such as the US and China. According to Oxfam, the US pays three times more in subsidies to its 25,000 cotton farmers than its budget for aid to Africa's 500 million people. These subsidies make it impossible for third world countries to compete on international markets resulting in lower export earnings and even costing some countries more than they receive in debt relief.

Beyond economics, conventional cotton production has also many negative environmental impacts. While it is often described as the "Natural Fibre", cotton requires more pesticides and insecticides than any other crops. According to PAN UK (Pesticide Action Network) cotton accounts for 10% of all pesticides and 22.5% of insecticides applied in agriculture. It takes 1/3 of a pound of pesticides to produce a single tee shirt. The same pesticides and insecticides that are linked to cancer are being sprayed onto field affecting farmers, health as well as the wildlife and the environment.

The &quot;Make Poverty History&quot; campaign has had tremendous success in raising the awareness of many issues facing the developing world. Yet fashion produced in environmentally friendly and under fair-trade conditions still represents only a tiny fraction of the global textile market. However, with exciting new labels and designers, eco-fashion has developed a stylish and contemporary look in keeping with our modern lifestyles.

Just launched this Summer, By Nature (www.bynature.co.uk) offers a great selection of organic cotton clothes with contemporary eco fashion for women, men, children and babies. Products include:

Is Your Designer Handbag Authentic?

You pay a pretty penny for a Gucci bag or any other designer handbag be it Fendi, Prada, Chanel or Dior. Your friends are drooling over that gorgeous Gucci Turquoise Leather Handbag you just bought. Wait until they hear what a great deal you got!

But is it authentic or is it a fake? Determining authenticity can be a bit tricky because some fakes are done very well. However if you know what to watch for you can spot a fake in a minute!

The first thing you need to do is look at the bag itself. Do the materials look to be of the highest quality? How about the stitching? There should be no loose or uneven threads and the thread should match the bag exactly. If the bag is leather the logo will be engraved into the leather.

Next have a look at the hardware. The hardware should all be quality weight pieces with no scratches or color variations. Most of the designers actually have a plastic face that goes over the hardware to protect if from damage until the bag is purchased. The brand name will be engraved not embossed on the hardware. You should also be able to find the name engraved on the hardware for the strap.

Have a really close look at the liner and any accents. Check for quality. The liner should be silk and you should see the designers name or logo on the liner. Designers don't use cheap plastic accents. Even their fancy handles that are fun and funky. If you look closely you will see leather underneath the top finish.

Many authentic handbag comes with a card of authenticity which has the manufacturers logo embossed on it, as well as information about the bag.

You need to check for a serial number. Not all designers put a serial number on their bags but many do. So have a look and see if you can find it.

Now here is the easiest clue to remember. If the deal sounds too good to be true it is. Lets face it folks how do you think that somebody on ebay has the ability to buy designer bags for less than the boutiques that sell quantities of them all year long for the designer. Do you actually think the designer is going to give these people such great deals so they can pass them on to you. Not!

You might try to convince yourself that it's okay or that this person just stumbled across a good buy. Perhaps but highly unlikely. So if you truly want to own a designer bag then you must be careful who you give your money to.

If you don't care and an unlicensed knock off is okay. Then fine by me. But do remember that these knock offs are illegal and no matter how bad you want a designer handbag do you really want to own one that's not real and not legal.

If you are in the market for a designer hand bag then be sure you aren't throwing away your money and buy it from a reputable licensed retailer. You want your bag to last you a very long time!

The Brand of Ugg!

There are few trends that last longer than one season. Ugg is one that has been around quite a while. Ugg has become a brand associated with mainly high quality, highly fashionable footwear. Believe it or not, they first got their start in the United States on the west coast where there is little need for winter boots. That is due in part to the fact that Ugg is not just for snow. Completely the opposite, they are for anytime, anywhere, and with any outfit that does them justice! Let's take a look at Ugg Boots here and find out just what they are all about!

Ugg is a term that is used to talk about several different types of boots. In most cases, we are talking about the trendy boot that is produced by a company called &quot;Ugg Australia.&quot; But, these are not the first Ugg's to have come about. If you take a look back to the 1930's, sheepskin style boots were being worn by pilots during World War I. And, you will again find these same Ugg boots arriving on the scene is the 1960's when Australian surfers were wearing them. They would warm their feet in these boots after catching a few waves. Even still, they were worn by many Australian people as a way to keep their feet warm during the winter months and were usually worn indoors.

But, the Ugg boots that are so popular today are not made in Australia at all. Although they are still the same sheepskin type boot as they were then, the brand &quot;Ugg&quot; is one synonymous with high fashion trends.

Just what makes Ugg boots so darn good, though? Well, it takes only a second to know just why they are so wonderful. When you slip them on, they are comfortable. But, they are so soft that they are even luxurious. The fluffy inside of these boots offers a very warm and cozy place for your feet! They are also quite cute little boots. Therefore, they are some of the most sought after boots on the market. But, did you know that the term &quot;ugg&quot; actually was used to describe these boots as ugly? It is quite true that &quot;ugg&quot; is a shortened version of the word ugly. But, in this case, they were not referring to those boots made in the United States, but of those sheepskin boots made in Australia years ago! Today's Ugg Boots are anything but ugly!

Today, you can find many different styles of Ugg. They are produced, as we mentioned, by a company called &quot;Ugg Australia.&quot; Its parent company is Deckers Oudoor Corporation. It is a heavily marketed brand that has drawn the attention of all sorts of people including some celebrities! Stars like Paris Hilton and Oprah Winfrey are known to love their Ugg boots! Because of this highly in demand following, these boots and shoes can be purchased just about anywhere. But, consider this before you run off to your nearest mall to purchase them.

To find the cutest and most wonderful of all Ugg boots and shoes, look for them right online. You will be happy you did simply because you will find a huge selection of them on the web. And, you are likely to find better pricing online as well. No matter which way you look at it, Ugg is a brand that will be in our hearts for years to come. Look for them on the feet of your favorite stars but don't forget to get yourself a pair as well. You will fall in love with their comfort and style within minutes of slipping them on your feet!
